Mikhail Kichigin (Kitchiguin) in his studio, 10 Avenue Dubail

"In this studio with its single desk lamp, in this semi-dark huge room with large reflective vitrines that lit up from the headlights of the passing cars and the blue flashes of the trams – here the poets gathered to read their own and other poets' verses. Sometimes the reader has to stop, because Shanghai's street noise penetrates the studio. This city never lets you forget you are here." (From M. Volokhov, The Union of Shanghai Dreamers, in Rubezh, November 1941)
