The Hawkings' and The Limit (1930s vs 1949)

There is a fairly well-know article in the Life magazine on the Hawkings' estate called The Limit, on Hungjao Road. This old outpost of the opulent British living in western Shanghai did not budge even when the Communist soldiers walked into the garden.
