"When the curfew was lifted" (1927)

Not as immaculately composed as Sapajou's vignettes, but well executed nonetheless. Garage manager, rickshaw puller, Russian dancer and cafe owner burst free from under the stifling bell of the curfew, in 1927. The cartoon is by F. C. Millington – he ran an advertising and publishing company in Shanghai in the 1920s.
