There are a number of Ming residences all around Jiujianlou (green arrow), often in a better and more complete condition (blue arrows) – which makes it all even worse.

I'm all for making a fetish…

Yes! There is some significant downgrading here and there – which I didn't understand at first, when I followed these color indications to find these buildings in the old town.

Another surprise is that 九间楼，probably the only survived residence building from Ming era in the old town, is not considered a " top-level heritage site". I guess that by doing this the whole block…
